Circular No 203/2017
Dated 14 Sept 2017

To Members of the Malaysian Bar

Request for Feedback on Issues Relating to Pekeliling Ketua Pendaftar Bil 2 Tahun 2017: Garis Masa (Timeline) Penyelesaian Kes Jenayah dan Sivil Bagi Mahkamah Rendah

We refer to Bar Council Circular No 095/2017 dated 12 May 2017.

The Bar Council Court Liaison Committee ("CLC") invites Members to provide their feedback on issues faced since the coming into effect of Pekeliling Ketua Pendaftar Bil 2 Tahun 2017: Garis Masa (Timeline) Penyelesaian Kes Jenayah dan Sivil Bagi Mahkamah Rendah, pertaining to timelines for the completion of criminal and civil cases heard at the Subordinate Courts across Peninsular Malaysia.

This exercise is to enable us to compile information on instances where the Courts administered directions without exercising their judicial discretion.

In order for these concerns to be addressed effectively, we request that Members provide their feedback in the following format:

Case No Date of Hearing Description of What Transpired in Court

CLC welcomes any and all feedback, even if Members wish to redact certain details so that their identity will not be revealed.

Please note, however, that without specific details, it would be difficult for CLC to take up the issues raised by Members, with the relevant parties. We will collate the responses received, in preparation for the meetings with the relevant parties.

Kindly submit your input on or before 16 Oct 2017 (Monday) by any of the following methods:

(1) Email to vila@malaysianbar.org.my;
(2) Click here to provide feedback online; or
(3) Fax to 03-2050 2112.

Should you have any enquiries, please contact Vilashini Vijayan, Executive Officer, by telephone at 03-2050 2095, or by email at vila@malaysianbar.org.my.

Thank you.
