Dear members,
We are pleased to inform you that we have been appointed as members of the Jawatankuasa Kerja bagi menyediakan Garis Panduan Khas untuk Mengendali Kes-Kes Kesalahan Seksual Terhadap Kanak-Kanak ("the Working Committee"), together with Mr. Salim Bashir and Dato Sithamparam from the Criminal Law Committee.

The Working Committee has been tasked with drafting the standard operating procedures and guidelines for the conduct of cases involving child sexual abuse (CSA), and is broken up into four sub-committees, which will cover:
1. acceptance of report & investigations
2. the trial process
3. the handling of child witnesses
4. victim support (including the possibility of a compensation scheme)

Discussions will take place from 9th October 2017, and will be subjected to secrecy.

In the circumstances, and having regard to the 4 broad topics above, please do email us with any issues or feedback that you wish us to bring to the table when we are in discussions.

Please limit your feedback to child sexual abuse cases only, and do share with us any issues/difficulties/hurdles (for example) that you (or your friends/associates) have encountered or would like us to highlight in respect of the same. Do also let us know of any ideas that you have that we can incorporate into these SOPs/guidelines to better the entire process for survivors of CSA.

In view of the short time frame extended to us, please send all feedback/issues to us directly on this email thread, and copy the e-mail to Anusha by 5.00 p.m. on 5th October 2017.
