OUTCOME OF THE MEETING BETWEEN SELANGOR BAR AND THE MANAGING JUDGE OF SELANGOR YA TAN SRI HAMID EMBONG & CIVIL HIGH COURT JUDGES OF SHAH ALAM ON 19TH DECEMBER 2011 AT 3 PM
In this Meeting,it was resolved between Selangor Bar and the Selangor Courts as follows:-
1.The Court will revert on a system of manual filing as contingency in situations when the E-filing system is down.
2.It was agreed that the Court will refund filing fees in the event the Court system rejects the documents on grounds the Court system could not read the Court document;
3.It was agreed that the Selangor Court will keep the Bar informed in advance of any changes in policy, rules, etc. so that Selangor Bar will be able to disseminate such information to their members (lawyers);
4.It was also agreed that all the cause lists for Shah Alam matters are uploaded in the "kehakiman's" website and it is accessible to everyone (including public). Please refer to http://efiling.kehakiman.gov.my/efiling/ for cause lists;
5.As it was often faced by lawyers that the Court Receptionist do not pick up the telephone calls to answer,it was agreed that the Selangor Courts will make available of all Registrars direct line telephone numbers, hand-phone numbers or email address so that lawyers can communicate with them directly on Court Cases. All communications must relate to the Court Cases only and during office hours only;
6.It was agreed that no lawyers are required to take off their shoes when entering the judicial officers' chambers.If the lawyers are requested to take off their shoes, action will be taken against the respective judicial officer.
7.It was generally agreed that lawyers will not be rushed through cases and not be forced to prepare written submissions immediately after trial.
8.It was agreed that lawyers can contact registrars directly to inquire on extraction of cause papers.A list of the relevant contact information can be found in the Selangor Bar website.
The other issues raised by Selangor Bar, which the Courts are looking into are:-
1.The need for more Court Counters for purposes of filing;
2.Extraction issues. Extraction still slow. Courts need to expedite;
3.On Power of Attorney documents and Revocation documents, it takes a long time. Courts need to expedite on this;
4.The need for more Judges and staff for the Courts.
